Furnace tips for Murrieta heating
- Check the shut off breakers and switches. All furnaces, no matter what age or type, have some type of wall switch near the furnace. Although this seems obvious, it may be easy to miss. Also check the circuit breaker or fuse for the furnace.
- You may need to change the furnace filter. Dirty filters are a really common cause of furnace problem. Debris can restrict airflow. This makes the unit heat up too quickly and shut off too soon. Your owners manual should show where the filter is and how to change it. Always turn off the shutoff switch and turn the thermostat all the way down before working on the furnace!
- Make sure the gas is on. Same as with the switches, someone may have turned it off and forgot to turn it back on. After turning the gas on, make sure your pilot light is lit if you have one.
- Look for blocked air ducts that can restrict airfl0w. Air ducts extend all throughout your home. So it is very possible that there is a blockage caused by rodents or insects. It is also possible there is an air duct leak somewhere in your system. Lastly, check to make sure the air vents in each room is open.
