San Diego Heating by Economy Plumbing

February 10, 2016

Even though San Diego is iconic for warm coastal temperatures, we all know these winter nights can get chilly! San Diego heating is needed by everyone! No matter what type of system you have, Economy Plumbing can help San Diego keep warm through this winter. Annual maintenance to your system can prolong it’s life and help it to run at peak efficiency. Maintenance can also keep your warranty in good standing. Your warranty may be voided if your system is not serviced regularly.

Choosing a San Diego heating system for your home

According to idealsvc.com, “Air conditioning and heating solutions are the most significant energy users throughout the home and office space, making up around 75% of your utility bill.” So choosing the right type of heating system for your home is important. Factors such as fuel, climate, efficiency and size are good to think about. If you’re having trouble picking one, the site also states that “Forced air systems heat most homes in San Diego, as they are less expensive to install and more efficient.” A significant benefit is that these systems are able to run right alongside your central air conditioning system. San Diego needs to keep cool during the summers too!

While we are waiting for summer to roll around again, here are some things you can do to save on your energy costs!

  • Change your dirty air filters. Debris can cause the unit to heat up too quickly and limit your systems efficiency.
  • Check all gas connections. Faulty gas connections are serious health and fire hazards. They also cause equipment to run less safely and efficiently.
  • Be sure all areas of your home are sufficiently insulated. Try adding weather stripping around windows and doors. Caulking around windows will help keep in heat.
  • Install a programmable thermostat. You can program the thermostat to turn off when leave the house and to turn back on when you usually come back.
